Buddhism in Bhutan, Bumthang

The spread of Buddhism in Bhutan followed Guru Padmasambhava, also revered as the second Buddha. A tantric Indian Buddhist, Padmasambhava, arrived in Bhutan in the 8th-century on invitation and helped develop and establish the Mahayana and the subsequent Nyinmapa sect of Mahayana forms of Buddhism in Bhutan. With our local Buddhist experts in Bhutan, we’ll take you on a cultural tour to uncover the rich Buddhist ancient architecture, Buddhist traditions and the cultural masked monk Tsechus and Dromchoes held annually in the provinces from Punakha, Bumthang and Paro in Bhutan.
